Foreigner

Who is Foreigner?

Foreigner is a British-Americna rock band formed in 1976 by Mick Jones, Lou Gramm, Dennis Elliott, Al Greenwood, Ed Gagliardi, Ian Mcdonald, and Kink Crimson. They're one of the world's best-selling bands of all time, with sales of more than 80 million records worldwide. The band's name was created by Jones, coming up with it because at least half the band's members would be foreigners wherever they went. They released their first album in 1977, being the first of six consecutive albums to be certified multi-platinum and go to the Top 10 in the U.S. Some of the hit songs they're known for include "Feels Like the First Time", "Head Games," "Cold as Ice," and "Juke Box Hero."

What makes them so cool?

To be completely frank, I'm not quite so sure myself why I love them. I mean... they're almost a cop-out answer given how popular they are. But, in fairness, my other favorites include Boston, Eagles, The Beatles, and other uber-popular bands. I think that I choose Foreigner because they not only have a large repetoir of hit songs that I love (Have you HEARD "Juke Box Hero?"), but they also have a specific early 80s sound that I grew up on. I tend to get my music taste, like most people I assume, from my parents, and this is what my Dad loves. I'm glad I can share a favorite with my parents, and it really doesn't matter what my favorite band is, so long as they sound good. Not sure what else to add other then, at this stage in my life, Foreigner just hits different.
