The Questions
Do's and Dont's of Web Design
The schedule area of the LoL Esports website has team logos and other indicators that seem like they would be ripe for clicking or redirecting to team pages. They are unclickable, sadly.
Better User Expeireince Through Storytelling
Well, to put it simply, refining what emotions, beats, and overall experience you want the user to feel while using your product, watching your film, or using your sight, can help you organize how you choose certain elements. Visceral, behavioral, and reflective design are all spects that can be taken into account to achieve a better structure in design. The excellent example of it done well, are horror experiences. To quote the article, "people pay to be scared."
Meet Your Type: A Field Guide to Love and Typography
Some ways to establish heiarchy wihin a series of text include size, color, length, and even serifs. Fony style is also an option to make certain texts stand out, such as bold and italics. Some type is inherently more dominant than others, so heiarchy isn't necessarily bound to the order or alignment that text appears, though they can also play a part in heiarchy.
The Brief
- Problem - Every year, new college students have to go into dormliving blind, and quick, easy, food is one of those blind areas.
- Audience - The target audience are on-a-budget, college students ages 17-24, that have access to at least one major retailer or retailer that carries common food items. Having no clue what food they should or shouldn't get, what's worth the price, what's easy, or what's even tasty.
- Competition - From what I can tell, the only competition are the reviews or ratings sparsley available on YouTube, or the retailer websites. Competitors might include, YouTube, Walmart, Target, etc. They offer an extremely wide variety of options, but it can be difficult to navigate or find a specific item or type of item.
- Key Messages - The target audience is experiencing a lack of understanding of what good options are for the first time on their own. They shouldn't have to experiment to find out what tastes good or is bargain. That's what makes this site so good! There are good, cheap, and easy options out there for dorm-living, and this website will help you find them.
- Call to Action - When students visit our website, they'll hopefully go out and purchase, eat, and review those food options (canned foods, microwavable meals, just add water meals).
- How to Measure Success - If there are positive reviews, a continuous stream of interactions, and if students report enjoying their newly found meals!
