A Super Design

Overall Theme

To start with why I chose the overall theme, I started by imagining what fictional world I like, one with enough culture and character to allow for decent theming. I chose the home of Superman himself, Metropolis, and decided to go for a design that might mimic Superman-esque branding. At the very least, you can see this reflected in both the color palatte of blue and yellow, as well as the imagery and font you see on the page. Other additions I applied included thin white borders around images, and a black dropshadow behind all yellow headers. This was to help keep them separate visually from their contrasting blue backdrop. I chose to omit red, as It's usually the most striking color of the 3 when combined with either blue or yellow, and I figured that 'comic' aesthetic was better suited for just blue and yellow.

Structure

There's not too much to say when it comes to structure, but I used the column structure practiced in earlier weeks to create a simple format that each page, generally, could follow to homogonize the website. It's easy to look at, for sure. The images, for the most part, are taken from the DCAU, comics, or from live action sets (such as Silas Deli from the upcoming Superman film). Button styles are exclusively large, but I added the same font to keep it inline with the rest of the site. And, I actually liked the white for the buttons, so I kept them.
